A ‘What You Need to Know’ Session with APB Clubs

Main Poster for the programme

Coping with university life might be difficult to do for the new students - yes, Part 1 and Part 2 students, we are talking about you. Therefore, in order to help you adapt with your current life as a student of Akademi Pengajian Bahasa UiTM, the Caretaker of Fakulti Akademi Pengajian Bahasa (APB) in collaboration with APB clubs - Applied Language Society (APPLES), Persatuan Bahasa Arab Komunikasi (PEBAKOM), Bahasa Melayu Komunikasi Profesional (BMKP), dan English Cultured Society (ECLIPSE) held a programme called Ayuh! Kenali Kelab Dalaman APB. The session was held on 25th December 2020, from 8.30 PM to 11.00 PM through Google Meet and Quizizz.

This programme was aimed to brief APB students - specifically Part 1 and Part 2 students - on the activities conducted by the internal clubs, as well as their respective courses’ study plans. Students of other semesters were also welcomed to join the sharing session. The moderator of the session was its own Head of Programme, Miss Nur Athirah Khairina binti Mohd Baharun.

Representatives of Applied Language Society (APPLES), the internal club for LG240 English for Professional Communication, Laila Sulwani binti Sumadi and Fatin Dahlia Putri binti Zolkefli were the first to explain about their course outline, as well as the activities held by the club.

Following them was the briefing of LG241 Bahasa Melayu Untuk Komunikasi Profesional, by Muhammad Abdullah bin Mohd Ali, the president of Kelab Bahasa Melayu Komunikasi Profesional (BMKP).

LG242 Bahasa Arab Untuk Komunikasi Profesional was the third to go, under their internal club Persatuan Bahasa Arab Komunikasi (PEBAKOM). The speaker, Yusra binti Azman presented the contents of their course, as well as the activities handled by PEBAKOM.

The last club to present that night was English Cultured Society (ECLIPSE), the internal club for LG243 English for Intercultural Communication. Represented by a Part 5 student, Muhammad Hadwan bin Abd Ghani, the sharing included the updated course outline of the programme - the one currently being learnt by Part 1 & 2 LG243 students.

According to Miss Khairina, there were a total of 132 participants and 63% of them were Part 1 students - the target of the programme. We think that the programme has helped the students to better understand what they are learning. The tips and insights from the seniors can also be used for future references; I guess we never know.

We hope that the clouds in the students’ minds are gone for now, replaced with a radiant ray of sunshine. The future seems clearer, yeah? All the best for the upcoming weeks and semesters everyone!
